Mogadishu, Somalia – 01 March 2026 – The Drought Payout Ceremony 2025–2026 was successfully held in Mogadishu, led by Baraka Insurance in collaboration with ZEP-RE* , the Federal Government of Somalia , and key partners from the insurance sector.
The event highlighted the critical role of livestock insurance in supporting Somali pastoralists and enhancing community resilience against recurrent droughts. Through this initiative, pastoralists affected by severe droughts received financial support to recover and sustain their livelihoods, reinforcing social and economic stability in vulnerable regions.
Stakeholders at the ceremony emphasized the importance of climate risk protection and innovative insurance solutions in building long-term resilience for Somalia’s pastoralist communities.
This milestone demonstrates the continued commitment of public and private sector partners to safeguard livelihoods and promote sustainable development across drought-prone areas of Somalia.
